After an apprenticeship in newspaper journalism, Graham Ellis joined BBC Local Radio in 1976. He moved to national radio in 1981 where he produced a wide range of investigative documentaries and series. As an executive producer and editor he led programme teams on the BBC’s principal radio and television services until his appointment as Controller of Radio Production for the BBC in 1999. He was appointed Deputy Director of BBC Radio in 2013. Graham is a fellow of the UK Radio Academy and chairman of the European Broadcasting Union Radio Committee. He is also the President of the Prix Italia broadcasting competition.
