Maria Pia Ammirati is a television manager, writer and professional journalist.
Since 2014 Director of Rai Teche, she has been in charge of the Rai Digital Area.

After work experiences as a press journalist and university researcher, in 1992 she began her career in Rai as a film director and author. She has been working for years on educational and cultural television for the DSE Rai Education, as a TV host and project leader. Since 2000 she has been at Rai Uno where she was Project Manager and Head of News and Information programs and, since 2009, Deputy Director in charge of “Day Time”.

After the beginnings with two essays of literary criticism, she published the following novels:
I cani portano via le donne sole (Empiria, 2001, selected for the Premio Strega), Un caldo pomeriggio d’estate (Edizione Cadmo, 2005), Se tu fossi qui (Cairo, 2011, Premio Selezione Campiello), Le voci intorno (Cairo, 2012), La danza del mondo (Mondadori, 2013) e Fuori dall’Harem (Edizioni San Paolo, 2016) on the life of the religious Caterina Troiani.
Due mogli – 2 agosto 1980 is her latest novel, published by Mondadori.

She is sworn in the Premio Strega, Premio Viareggio, Premio Rapallo.
She is board member of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Rai Cinema, Rai Pubblicità and GNAM of Rome (National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art).
